NetSetGO

NetSetGO is a program specifically designed to focus on the foundation level skills of athletes aligned with Netball Australia.

The program is run for school children who are currently in Prep, Grades 1, 2 and 3 at school.  It is a fun, safe, social and active program for girls and boys aged 5 to 10. We run our program at Brighton Primary School and Gardenvale Primary School.

Each team has a dedicated coach and up to 10 participants and the program focuses on four key areas:

  1. Developing foundation skills

  2. Understanding game day and umpiring

  3. The rules of netball

  4. Skill and teamwork development.

REGISTRATIONS FOR 2024 ARE OPEN NOW!

What do players learn?

Each week your child will take part in skill based activities that will help them develop fundamental movement skills, as well as important social skills like team work. We aim to teach the correct technique through drills, starting with basic skills and advancing as players develop. We teach players about effective passing techniques, safe landing and pivoting (to reduce stepping and mitigate risk of injury), shooting technique, court positions and game strategy, and how to build their fitness.

What do players wear?

Each player is encouraged to wear their Woolworths NetSetGO training training top, along with black shorts. Correct footwear is important to prevent injury. Runners should be supportive and laces tied tightly.  School shoes and converse style sand shoes are not permitted.

NetSetGO registration goodies

Once your player's registration has been processed you will receive a confirmation and welcome email from Netball Australia and your Woolworths NetSetGO participant pack.

What about competitions?

After completing NetSetGO, players can join our club and represent it in the U9 or U11 competition.

NetSetGO coaches

NetSetGO is an opportunity for parent-coaches, parents returning to sport, and young coaches, to experience running the program, and leading off and on court activities.

If you are a mum or dad, who coaches sport, or has taken time off from sport, and you want to become involved, NetSetGO is a great way to have a bit of fun, meet new parents and widen your netball/sport contacts.
