Our commitment to child safety

EBVNC  is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children. All children who are a part of the Club have a right to feel and be safe, be they players, coaches, umpires or volunteers. The welfare of the children in our care will always be our first priority and the Club has zero tolerance of child abuse.

At EBVNC we strive to model and champion a child safe culture at all levels and create a shared understanding that child safety is the responsibility of everyone in our netball community.

We adopt and support Netball Victoria Commitment to Child Safety which states everybody in the netball community has a responsibility to understand their role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people in our care.

We are committed to promoting and protecting the rights of children, and preventing abuse from occurring by fostering a culture where children are safe and empowered.

We seek to educate about cultural safety to create culturally safe environments for First Nations children and children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, and we always seek to provide a safe and empowering environment for children with a disability.

EBVNC follows all requirements of the child safety standards set by Netball Victoria, Caulfield District Netball Association and Bayside District Netball Association. Our child safety committee periodically reviews these requirements and our Child Safe Policy and Incident Reporting Procedure have been developed in accordance with these standards.

We have also developed the EBVNC Child Protection Commitment Statement

Who is responsible for Child Safety at EBVNC?

Every person in the netball community has a responsibility to understand their role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people in our care. Everyone associated with EBVNC has a responsibility to create a welcoming, supportive and safe environment for all members, and for young members in particular.

Nicole Trigger and Emma Rees are EBVNC’s Child Safety Officers for 2024. If you need to officially and confidentially report a child safety incident, please email: ebvnccso@gmail.com

If you are a child, teen or young adult needing to speak to someone outside of EBVNC, please click here for free, confidential, online and phone counselling through Kids Helpline.
